Last week was such a good time! It was April Fool's Day, General Conference and Easter all in a week! I have to say that this is one of my most favorite times of the year! It's a time to get edified and be fed such great messages through our modern day prophet and his disciples, get to play pratical jokes on the ones you love, and have a wonderful time eating great food and remembering the true meaning of Easter.. while enjoying it with good chocolate candy. Chocolate is accepted on every holiday for me! :)
This year for some reason it hit me of what a funny holiday April Fool's day really is. No pun intended. :) Honestly though, when you really think about it, why do we have a holiday such as April Fools? It was funny because at any chance Oli and I had... we would say anything.. and then quickly follow it up with the famous "April Fools" line. It's the one time where anything and everything can be justified.
"I got fired today" April Fools
"I just got in a car wreck" April Fools
"I'm pregnant" April Fools
Or
The one that got me the best was his last April Fool's joke. I am a big scaredy cat when it comes to the dark. From the time I was little where I had to have my awesome dad walk outside with me to make sure I was going to be safe as I fed my dog, that was maybe only 50 feet away from the door, to now when I have to have Oli be with me whenever it is dark. Keeping that in mind, Oli knows of my fear of the dark and decides to turn the power switch off at night. I was brushing my teeth when this happened, and I instanly froze up. The house went quiet except for the constant times I kept whispering his name to turn the lights back on. (I have to whisper being that we live in apartments and this was like at midnight). The silence kept up for about five minutes (really feeling like eternity) and then all of the sudden I hear rapid movements and something crawling towards me! I tried my best to stifle a scream and honestly not to faint as he grabbed my legs. He stands up laughing and follows his evil joke with "April Fools". So again, what is the purpose of April Fools :)
Maybe April Fools Day is a holiday to help us find reasons to laugh and make other people laugh. We get so caught up in the stress of life that sometimes we forget to not take life so seriously. Thank you April Fools Day and thank you Oli for making me laugh.
Here are some of the jokes I played on Oli:
A fake parking ticket

Plastic wrap around the toilet. This one didn't work out so well as you can tell that it is pretty obvious to see the plastic wrap. Oli suprised me by coming home early so it was a quick wrap.

I sent this google image to my mom's phone. She actually believed it- and for a while I was using two April Fools jokes. This one on my mother and the other one on Oli, as I told him that I didn't know how to say I was just joking to my parents (even though I quickly told my mother April Fools before she started to tell the rest of the family). He was pretty nervous thinking that the fam was going to think we were expecting a baby and getting excited when it really wasn't true.
Oli making our awesome dinner on Easter! I was pretty sick- and he just took the initiative to cook and spoil me the rest of the day. He rocks.
While being sick, we were able to catch up on Lost. If you think that the show is lame, it is ok because I once thought it was too. However now I really love it!
I just thought I would leave you with a great thought from Elder Hales this conference session that I absolutely loved:
"Of all the words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: it might have been..."
Isn't that good? I thought it was good.
Have a great day!
